Near-Miss Reporting

Federated’s Near-Miss Program is designed to identify and communicate incidents and hazards experienced by cooperatives nationwide. The data collected will be used to develop training programs designed to eliminate future accidents.

Federated is taking the initiative to collect near miss information on a national level for the family of rural electric cooperative systems. Statistics show that near miss incidents often occur as a forefront to a serious injury but are often overlooked because there was no injury, or loss. So, chances to prevent the incidents are lost. Recognizing and reporting near miss incidents can significantly improve worker safety and enhance an organization’s safety culture. By reporting these near misses, you are creating the opportunity to learn from situations experienced by your peers within your state and throughout the country.

In addition, if your organization has a system in place to capture near misses we encourage you to also add your data to the national database.
